About Attorney Kristin Brown
I have been engaged in the practice of law for over a decade and am a graduate of Madison Comprehensive High School, Miami University, and University of Dayton School of Law. I am a member of the Richland County Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Grievance Committee, and the Ohio Bar Association. In the past ten years, I have been proud to serve often as a Mock Trial judge for area high school competitions.
I was inspired to become a lawyer by my grandfather, who was a civil rights attorney in the south in the 1960’s and 1970’s. I believe that the biggest lesson he taught me was to listen carefully to what your client is telling you and to have compassion for whatever situation your client is going through. It was instilled in me to always be prepared to go to trial and to never back down from a fight. I thank him for that.
When I was in college, I interned at the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office and Mansfield Municipal Court. I thought that I would be a prosecutor, until I realized that my passion was family law and helping people through what can be the most difficult time of their life - divorce. A prominent domestic relations attorney, who is no longer with us, told me once that if I wanted to be a lawyer, I would have to have a fire in my belly. I didn’t know that that meant at the time, but I do now. It's that fire that sustains me in my practice, as I fight for my clients and advocate for them day in and day out. It brings me joy to do my best each and every day for my clients, and I can’t picture myself doing anything else with my time here on earth.
When I am not in court or otherwise engaged in the practice of law, I enjoy volunteering for causes that I am passionate about, which includes dog and horse rescue.
